Danielle's Kids in the Wild
In the past, when I was a kid, my family and I would visit National Parks around the U.S. and I would usually do what they called a “Junior Ranger Program.” These are handouts that have activities in them which allow kids to interact with the park. This program that many parks have is one of the main things that have stuck with me throughout the years. However, when I visited Northlake Nature Center I saw that they did not have a program for kids to do as they walked though the park. This inspired me, for my Girl Scout Gold Award, to create the activity handout called “Kids in the Wild.” This handout allows kids, and even adults, to get better in touch with nature, and concentrate on their senses so they can better understand their surroundings. One of my passions is nature and I hope this project can let others see what it has to offer.
